Dr. Sekhon Atwal has an extensive background as a medical practitioner and administrator. Previously, she served at UC Davis, where she provided leadership for medical practice and clinical services including overseeing the UC Davis COVID-19 Case Investigation & Contact Tracing Team to mitigate the spread of COVID-19 on campus during the pandemic.
Dr. Sekhon Atwal completed her Primary Care Sports Medicine Fellowship at UC Davis Health System/UC Berkeley Sports Medicine in 2011, after completing her Family & Community Medicine Residency Program at the University of California Davis Medical Center, where she also served as Chief Resident from 2009 to 2010. She obtained her M.D. from the University of Vermont College of Medicine in 2007 and was awarded the 2007 Edward E. Friedman Award for Promise of Excellence in the Practice of Family Medicine. Additionally, her Master's thesis at the University of California, Davis, focused on the relationship between physical activity and bone mineral density in sixth-grade Asian and Hispanic girls in Sacramento, CA.
